Batman turns 75 years old this year. Even though the Dark Knight continues his war on crime in the pages of DC comic books and in movies (somewhere Ben Affleck is avoiding carbs), Batman’s main gig continues to be salesman. Batman’s image sells video games, clothing, toys, and the occasional food item. Thankfully Austin’s Mondo Gallery has given Batman a little dignity for his birthday with a gallery show featuring Batman-inspired art from an impressive roster of artists.

Mondo’s Batman 75th Anniversary Gallery debuted last Friday with new work from artists Francesco Francavilla, Scott C., Jock, Jason Edmiston, Tom Whalen, Martin Ansin, and many more. The work showcased a variety of Bat-incarnations including landmarks stories from Batman comics, the Christopher Nolan films, the Adam West TV series, Batman: the Animated Series, Batman Beyond and more. The opening night of the gallery also featured a live Alfred serving champagne. Go here to see more prints from the show.

If you’re in Austin, the gallery show runs until Nov 15th, with select prints available for purchase. For those outside of Austin hoping to scoop up one of the prints, subscribe to Mondo’s newsletter for on sale announcements (sign up is on the bottom of their site).

Arts+Labor producer Scott Hamilton thoroughly enjoyed the show (and picked up a couple prints) even though he would have loved to see a piece paying respect to Batman Forever.

Fun fact: the champagne was Andre.

A real life manservant for the evening.
